Аннотация
Появившись тысячи лет назад в бескрайних степях Центральной Азии, балбалы продолжают свое существование на обширной географической территории от северного Причерноморья до бескрайней Монголии. Не случайно балбалы, сохранившие свои тайны на протяжении всей истории, являются предметом научных исследований. Цель создания балбалов была предметом постоянного исследования вплоть до конца XIX века. Однако, благодаря изучению и расшифровке орхоно-енисейских письменных источников, историческая загадка балбалов постепенно стала раскрываться. В статье анализируются научные подходы исследования таких музейных экспонатов, как балбалы, находящиеся в составе фонда Национального музея Республики Казахстан.
