Аннотация
Кез-келген ұлттың мәдениетін оның тілі сияқты көркем сипаттай алатын жаратылыс жоқ. Ұлттың рухани құндылықтары мен наным-сенімдерін жақсы көрсететін тілдік элемент те – мақал-мәтелдер. Мақал – дәстүрлі шындықты немесе пайдалы даналықты білдіретін қысқа сөз. Мақал-мәтелдердің парасатты ойға немесе сан ғасырлық тәжірибеге негізделгені анық. Кез-келген мақал-мәтелде даналық ой болады және олар ұрпақтан-ұрпаққа, негізінен ауызша, кейіннен жазбаша түрде жалғасып келеді. Мақала мақсаты – шет тілін үйренуде мақал- мәтелдерді пайдаланудың артықшылығын айқындау мен тіл үйренушілерге қосымша иллюстрациялық дереккөз ұсыну. Осы мақсатта қазақ тіліндегі қырық мақал-мәтелдің ағылшынша баламалары, аудармалары беріледі. Қазақ паремиология бірліктерінің мағынасы ашылып, қолдану мақсаты көрсетіледі. Сонымен қатар алынған мақал-мәтелдердің дыбыстық және мағыналас нұсқалары да ұсынылады.
