Мақаланың мақсаты – отандық музейлік этнографияның (этномузеологияның) қазіргі жағдайын сипаттау және келешек дамуының өзекті мәселелерін ашып көрсету. Қазақстан музейлерінің этнографиялық коллекцияларында жинақталған материалдар қазақ халқының дәстүрлі мәдениеті жөніндегі аса маңызды дереккөзі екені белгілі. Соның музейтанудағы рөлі мен маңызын ғылыми тұрғыдан анықтау күн мәселесіне айналып тұр. Бұл мақсатқа жету, еліміздегі этнографиялық музейтану ісін терең зерттеу міндеттерін шешу, республикалық және облыстық деңгейдегі музейлердің этнографиялық жинақтарының бірыңғай деректер базасын құру қажеттілігі айтылады. Сонымен бірге, этнографиялық музейтану алдында тұрған көкейкесті мәселелер жан-жақты талданып, олардың шешу жолдары айқындалды. Мақала музей қызметкерлеріне, этномузеологиямен айналысатын этнологтар мен мәдениеттанушыларға, пәнаралық зерттеулерге қызығушылық танытатын барша оқырмандарға пайдалы болады деп сенеміз.
