Қазақ халқының болмысын, шығу тегін зерттеу өте маңызды мəселелердің бірі. Осы орайда, қазақ ру-тайпалық құрылымын зерттеу басты рөл атқарады деуге болады. Əсіресе олардың шығу тегі, орналасқан жері мен көші-қон аумағы Ресей мұрағаттарында, экспедиция құжаттарында жақсы сақталған. Кейінгі кезде отандық ғалымдар зерттеулерінде біршама кең мəліметтер беріп, зерттеу аясын кеңейте түсті. Тақырыбымызға арқау болып отырған Абақ Керей ішіндегі Сарбас руының қалыптасу тарихын, тарихи-ғылыми тұрғыдан зерттеу əлі нақты қолға алынбады. Шағын мақалада Сарбас руына байланысты қолда бар деректерге шағын шолу жасап өтуді жөн көрдік. Руға байланысты Ресей мұрағаттарында сақталған құжаттарды толық зерттеу өте маңызды. Ондағы құжаттар арқылы рудың шығу тегі, руаралық байланыстары қазақ халқының түп негізіне апарып тірейді, əрі біртұтас ұлт болғанын көрсетеді.
