Маңғыстау өңірінің тарихы тереңде. Əр түрлі кезеңдерде көптеген тайпалардың қонысы болған. Қасиетті жерлер өте көп. Соның ішінде мешіт- медреселердің тарихы да тереңнен бастау алады. Ондай медреселерде ғұлама-ұстаздар дəріс берген. Əр түрлі оқулықтар пайдаланған. Солардың ішіндегі ең танымалы Қожа Ахмет Ясауидің «Диуани Хикметі». Сондықтан өңірден Хикметтердің қолжазбасының табылуы, біріншіден, Ясауи жəне Ясауи мұраларын зерттеу үшін өте зор маңызға ие болмақ, екіншіден өңірде жүргізілген діни, рухани тəлім-тəрбиенің тарихын зерттеуде таптырмас түпдерек болып табылады.
