В статье рассмотрен образ личности великого ойратского просветителя Зая-пандиты, а также затронуты факторы становления региональной школы изобразительного искусства в Калмыкии. Точечно проанализированы произведения калмыцких художников, посвященные деятельности Учителя, которая воспринимается знаком этнического единства и классикой национального искусства, вошедшего в сокровищницу российской художественной культуры.
