Аннотация
Мақалада археология ғылымының салмақты бір саласы петроглификаның, оның ішінде қазақстандық петроглификаның даму тарихына шолу жасалады. Жартас бетіндегі суреттердің дақтарын (патиналарын) олардың археоэкологиялық контекстінде зерттеудің маңыздылығы жөнінде сөз болады. Петроглифтерді табу, зерттеу, оқу, жүйелеу; жартас бетіндегі суреттердің салыстырмалы хронологиясын анықтау, табиғат нысандарын зерттеуге микроскоптық техниканы қолдану, т.с.с. петроглификада кеңінен қолданылатын әдістер туралы баяндалады.
